FAQ: HOW DO YOU REWIRE A WHOLE HOUSE ?

We often get asked where do you begin with such a task as rewiring an entire house? At Gentec we can take on a job like this with ease and precision. Our experience has taught us that a typical house rewire works best done in two stages the 1st fix and the 2nd fix.

1st fix begins with the chasing or channelling of walls and placing backboxes for the new sockets, switches and accessories you have chosen and in the locations you have decided, then we place the new cabling in and remove the old which requires lifting floorboards and any carpets or flooring that may be in the property.

When planning your rewire it would be recommended to think about placement of sockets and switches for your own convenience and where furniture and fittings may be placed in the future.

The 2nd fix normally begins after walls have been patched or plastered or maybe tiles have been added. This is when all socket faces, switches and accessories get connected to their various circuits and also new fuseboard is fixed place.

Once the customer is totally happy with the work all circuits are tested to insure they are safe an comply with the latest version of the building regulations a certificate of the results is issued.
